The Andalucia Valderrama Masters recently took place in Sotogrande in June and this summer sees the celebration of the Arana Cup Costa del Sol golf tournament. Taking place at three golf courses in Marbella, this unique tournament pays homage to Javier Arana, widely considered the best Spanish golf course designer ever.
About the Arana Cup Costa del Sol golf tournament
The Arana Cup – Endesa Award takes place over five months during spring and summer 2019. It consists of a total of ten matches, each held at one of the courses designed by Javier Arana in Spain. The match inaugurating the tournament took place at Aloha Golf in Marbella on 30 March and the final will be played at the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, also in Marbella at the end of August. Each round of the Arana Cup includes a game of 18 holes on the course with winners in several categories. These depend on handicap and player gender with the highest in each category going through to the grand final. There are also plenty of other prizes per round plus a few surprises.

The most important date for your diary for the Arana Cup Costa del Sol golf tournament this summer is 23 August when the trophy reaches Río Real Golf. The day starts promptly on the course designed by Arana in 1965 with a full round of 18 holes challenging competitors. Renowned as one of his signature courses, Rio Real Golf is sure to offer some tough golf for players as well as good entertainment for spectators. Viewing of the tournament takes place from the Rio Real terrace where spectators can enjoy drinks and snacks as they watch the day’s play unfold. The final of the Arana Cup is on 30 August at the Real Club de Golf de Guadalmina.
