Challenge Rio Real Golf

Rio Real Golf has set golfing standards high this summer with a series of competitions designed to put your golfing skills to the test. Players who successfully meet the Rio Real challenges stand to reap big rewards with the biggest bounty of all in the shape of €1,000, a prize that’s up for grabs every single day.

Get that hole-in-one

It’s perhaps the most difficult shot of all in golf, but one that every single player dreams of achieving at least once in their lifetime. This summer, Rio Real Golf is rewarding the most spectacular shot of all with a prize of €1,000 for the player who gets that elusive hole-in-one.

The competition runs every day so there’s an incentive to keep trying as often as possible. If you’d like to win €1,000 as well as the glory of a hole-in-one, pop along to the Rio Real Pro Shop to find out how to enter. Golfers wishing to enter this competition at Rio Real Golf pay €15 sign-up fee.

Top tip: Get in as much practice as possible by taking advantage of Rio Real’s unique dynamic prices. Play more golf for less. Find out more here.

Nearest to the pin

Not quite as challenging as a hole-in-one, but not easy either is another competition at Rio Real Golf this summer. Nearest to the pin takes place every Wednesday and challenges golfers to put their distance skills to the test and get their ball as near as possible to the pin. The winner gets a free round of golf at Rio Real.

Top tip: Get a head’s up on the lie of the land on Rio Real Golf course by taking a look at our pro tips for every one of the 18 holes. Watch the videos for extra insider tips.

The longest drive

Over its more than 6,000m of fairways, Rio Real Golf certainly requires good driving skills. If yours are good, why not enter our competition for the longest drive? This challenge takes place every Friday and tests your distance skills to the limit. The golfer hitting the furthest takes away a free round of golf at Rio Real as the prize and the satisfaction of knowing that your ball went the farthest of them all.

Top tip: Hitting a hole-in-one and accurately at close range or long-distance are skills that take practice and lots of it. Get some expert help at the Rio Real Golf Academy where our pro Sergio de Céspedes will tailor classes to suit you and bring those competition prizes that much closer!

Andalucia`s Gateway

It always makes a good pub quiz question. What is the geographical centre of Andalucía? Historically, and semi-officially, Antequera (near the northern border of Málaga province) is considered to hold that honour – at least for tourist brochure purposes. However, earlier this year a report by the National Centre for Geographical Information argued that the exact centre is in the small Córdoba municipality of Monturque. Other key cities in the region have their own claims to fame: Sevilla, the official capital; Cádiz, the oldest city in the western world; Málaga, the Andalucian capital of international tourism…

Golf and Tennis… Marbella’s Sporting Haven

When it comes to golfMarbella is recognised as Spain’s premier destination. The town has the highest number of courses of any municipality in Spain, but it is just as much (even more) about quality as it is about quantity. Several of the courses have hosted European Tour events (as well as the World Cup in 1973 and 1989) while others such as Río Real are regular venues for premier national and international amateur tournaments.
